I've been talking about updating my blog for weeks. I have a lot to blog about and the longer I have waited, the worse (or better?!??!) it's gotten (duh...right?). October was the craziest month I've had this year. Aside from the fall photos that I was booked up with, we took on the project of finishing our basement, and of course emotionally preparing for our daughter's second birthday as well as the oh so fun Halloween fun! Although my favorite month has come to a close, I can say that I'm pretty excited for what November has in store. It doesn't seem like our schedule will slow down much, but with some major projects out of the way, I think we can enjoy it all a little more. Hoping that the next week will bring an end to another successful harvest for my dad and grandpa, a successful deer season for my brothers and husband, and a great month of giving thanks! I am also hoping to keep this updated throughout the month before the rush of the holiday falls upon me, but I won't hold my breath (I wouldn't if I were you either). This month I am thankful for all my loved ones, health, happiness, and PHOTOGRAPHY! Hope you enjoy!
This was my first "Gender Reveal" session....it was really something. Thanks to some quick thinking from this expecting mother's good friend, I was connected with this excited couple and was given the opportunity to set this up for them within a couple of days. I did not know this couple prior to this session. After they went in for their ultrasound, "mom" drove to my house with the sealed "gender" in an envelope and handed it over to me, the "complete stranger". For some reason, I was so excited to see what they were having that I think I had it torn open before she backed out of my driveway....It's funny how we can so easily get interested in other peoples' "business", but this was a time that was justified :). After my kiddos left for the day, I took my box over to the local Russ' Market and had them fill it with helium balloons (blue of course, but by now I assume you know that). What do you know, it started raining on my way over to Pioneer's Park. Luckily, I found a covered area and gave "mom" the cue that we were ready. "Dad" had no idea what was in store (better yet, it was his birthday!). The rest is history! Watching this surprise through my lens was an awesome experience. Congrats and well wishes for the rest of your journey!!
My dear friend Ann wanted to do family pictures and include her husband's parents as well. Her husband is an only child, making Ann's two boys the only grandkids so I thought it was the perfect setup!! Grandpa and Grandma were a very sweet couple and clearly very proud of their family! I can only imagine how spoiled these two grandkids are :). I have known Ann for a few years as we previously worked together. Although I spent little time with her husband and even less time with her children, I am always excited to see them. They are wonderful people that are always interested in sharing stories/experiences with others! The boys were quiet, but they weren't fooling me.... (: AND I have to give props to Ann's husband for some great ideas he came up with during the shoot. Thanks Tellinghuisen family...I really enjoyed our session!
